CYBERSECURITY is a 2 year program designed to prepare students to enter the cybersecurity industry. This
program is based on nationally recognized industry standards and is taught by an A+ and NET+ certified
instructor. The student will receive classroom instruction and do hands on repair work to become skilled
technicians for a variety of employment opportunities.
Students are encouraged to work toward industry certification with the CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Net+
certificates.

Year 1 Introduction to Health Professions
This course is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the health care system and introduction to the roles of various members of the healthcare team. Current trends and issues in healthcare are explored and discussed. Professionalism according to industry standards, legal and ethical issues, and job descriptions for health occupations will be reviewed along with job shadowing experience.
Additional curriculum includes basic anatomy and physiology, infection control, as well as an introduction to medical terminology. Students will also receive their American Heart Association CPR Certification.
(Year 1 is a prerequisite for Year 2)
Year 2 Idaho Medical Assistant Certification
During this year, students will be provided instruction through classroom theory, lab and clinical skills in preparation for the Idaho State Medical Assistant Certification exam. This program teaches direct patient care in a doctor’s office or urgent care setting and clinical and administrative skills necessary for this high-demand career. Duties that a medical assistant will learn and perform in a medical office include:
● Interview patients and record their medical history.
● Measure patients’ vital signs, such as their blood pressure and weight.
● Help physicians with patient examinations.
● Give patients injections or medications as directed by physicians and as permitted by state law. ● Schedule patient appointments.
● Collect and prepare samples of blood and other specimens for laboratory tests. ● Disposing of contaminated supplies, and sterilizing medical instruments.
● Enter patient information, such as their vital signs and test results, into medical records. ● Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies.
Medical assistants may have a range of administrative tasks. They help patients understand and receive their insurance coverage, such as by completing forms, coding information, and contacting companies about billing.They also have to answer telephones. Medical assistants often focus on either clinical or administrative tasks, although some do both.
Complete your 160 hour Medical Assistant Apprenticeship and receive the opportunity to take the National Certification in this accelerated program for current health care professionals. Take skills introduced in class and apply them under the supervision of a Clinical Preceptor while you work. Under the supervision of health care providers, Medical Assistants are valued support members of the healthcare team. Medical facilities all rely on the Medical Assistant to provide clinical services for patients and ensure the clinic flows smoothly.

Industrial Welding & Metal Fabrication
Industrial Welding & Metal Fabrication is a 2 year program which is based upon industry standard AWS (American Welding Society) certification standards. This program is designed to prepare students for entry level employment as structural, pipe or production welders. Students will be working toward industry certifications.Program complies with national standards established by the AWS and is taught by an AWS certified welding instructor. Welding Technology combines theory and applied shop practices designed to develop welding skills including OAC (oxy-acetylene cutting), SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding), and GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), as well as blueprint reading, layout procedures, metallurgy and safety.
This program can be taken as a 1 or 2 year course.

Dental Assistant
Dental Assistant Program is a 1-year program that is based upon industry standards associated with the dental assistant field. You will gain essential skills to enter the dental assisting profession through a competency-based learning approach. This course is for in-person students at the NIC workforce training center at the Post Falls campus who have little to no background working in a dental practice. This program will prepare you to sit for the American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered dental assistant (RDA) certification exam. Classes meet in person every Monday 8-10:30, Tuesday 9-10:30 and Wednesday 8-10:30. On Thursdays and Fridays students are required to work on their job shadows and externships. Students must complete 20 hours of job shadow in the fall semester and 75 hours of externship in the spring semester. Students must be able to provide their own transportation.
